To HappYness..

Sun sets at the horizon at the end of the day,

White waves surge, on the slippery rocks, they fray..

Under a bent tree, on the eerie sand, I lay

Surrounded by nothingness, I let my mind stray..

The moonless night looks down at me,

North star shines with glee..

Blinding mist engulfs thy sight,

In the haven of solitude, I am inspired to indite..

Salty wind blows wildly on my face

Losing track of time, in nature’s embrace.

Shells askew in the twilight shine

Midnight brings a chill down my spine..

Away from the crowd, the hustle, the noise

A welcome change, hearing your inner voice..

In a distance, my friends call, scared and frantic

I wave back and soon I aint alone,

Cheer, joy and camaraderie atone..

Loneliness disappears in the magic of music..

Akkkshoooooo!!!

It starts with an untimely yawn

You stretch yourself and look around

It’s not as hot and sweaty as before

Though almost noon it looks like dawn..

Lost in thought or empty headed staring at books

Dark clouds gather and a thunder breaks the tranquil

You look up and share confused looks

“Is it time already, ah yes it is!!”, you squeal..

You leave your book and run to the window

Throw it open and look out with hope

“Oh look it’s raining” you excitedly say

The kid in you has just found his way..

The first drops greet your face as lightning flare

The smell of wet mud fills the air

Arms wide open, you try to get in some more

Unable to resist, you dash out of the door!

Drenched in the first rain you rejoice

Close your eyes and sway with glee

Unperturbed by any external noise

You realise, it’s time to set yourself free..

You stop short of making a paper-boat

Remember old times-your fluorescent yellow raincoat!

All the worries seem far far away

Just when a voice gets you back to present day..

“Get back in here, you will catch cold”

You jump harder into the puddle, ignoring your mom scold!

Suddenly you love this repeat of history

How, just a few raindrops could cheer you, will always remain a mystery!

You get back in, again stare at the book without a clue

Look out at the greener world and go, “akkkshoooooo”!!!

Why?

Yet another time to be alone

Surrounded by friends, still all on my own?

An advice, a word, an opinion too many

Still searching for the answer to my agony…

Why am I so different I ask?

Or is everyone just wearing a mask?

Solitude awaits me at the end of the day

When was I not alone, so to say..

Friends and blood may stand by you

But the journey is only yours all the way..

Scared to leave that helping hand?

Reluctant to give up a shoulder to cry?

But how will you learn to stand up, I ask

If you never even give it a try?

Take that step, give yourself a chance

Believe you can fight your own case,

Before God, before the world, before the mirror

That you can find your way through life’s maze.

A walk down the street

A silent shower

A thought before sleep

Could there have been a better place to meet?

A meet with thyself!

Why do I want more?

Why do some things end up being sore?

Why do things get out of hand?

Why, the more you hold back, out goes the sand?

Why so many questions I have?

Why?

Why??

Sea of Life

The night is dark and so is my mind

At the shore I sit before the black sea,

Long waves break on rocks splashing water on me

Still I sit, drenched with thoughts, and a way out to find…

Way out of what, I ask

Not a speck of light till far far away,

Not even an idea to put to task

Or even the right direction, so to say…

One sudden urge and into the water I dive

Clueless of the way, but the opposite shore I eye,

Dashed onto rocks, spilled blood into salty waters,

Long hours had gone, in the sea of life I was hardly alive

Still that tiny voice said,” hell it was worth a try!”

Atleast I used my time, I thought

Time which was truly mine,

Made a start, felt the waters

Instead of sitting on the border line…

Content with my deeds I drifted

The pain had died out,

Or was it still there?

Dawn broke and so did my dream,

Dream of finding the opposite shore,

“It is not a river but a sea, my dear”

The tiny voice was not tiny anymore.

It brightened the skies and vanished all the dark fear…

It said,

Wherever you go, you will find land

Keep moving ahead with destiny in your hand.

The sea wasn’t black, the night was…

The mind wasn’t dark, the time was…

And then it rose, emerging at the horizon

That ray of light…that hopeful sun…

The sea felt like home,

The shore still unknown

But I slowed down and patiently looked around,

The land at the end was anyways going to be found…

A Dove

Into the morning sky it flew,

As a pleasant sea breeze blew..

Fluttering widely its beautiful wings,

A song of peace and pride it sings..

High up into the horizon of future,

The goodwill of today and prosperity of past to nurture..

Its love crosses every border and line,

And its boundaries impossible to define..

A shot in its wings and down it falls

Help! Save your men if not me, it calls..

Its shudders it shivers, it weeps in pain,

A century old treasure of tradition in vain,

It is, but a dove, attempted to be slain,

But death is not an option, it knows it has to fly again…

Time to heal, ofcourse it will take,

Hopefully the world realizes, of this, what to make,

So that, one day, to a better morning, it will awake,

A higher plunge, with broken wings for freedom’s sake…..
